Thrifty Thursday Early Bird Performance!
Everyone is looking for ways to save money these
days, so TAP is offering a real break to anyone feeling the pinch. The
Thursday of the last week of the run of its shows this season will
be Thrifty Thursday, with all tickets at a Twofer Price. That’s
right, instead of $15 for a single admission, two adults can get
in for that price.
Same deal for students, two for $5, and if you’re a Season
Subscriber, two admissions for just one Season Ticket. If you’re
a loner, bring along a friend for a bargain! Thrifty Thursday is
also an Early Bird show with a 7:00 pm curtain. That’s Thursday,
May 15 for “Sylvia.”
Remember, Champagne Reception for Opening Night!
Opening Night at TAP is always a gala
occasion, filled with excited anticipation. Come, share in the
festivities with complimentary champagne and hors d’oeuvres for Opening Night attendees at no increase
in ticket price! The bubbly starts to flow at about 7:15 pm on Friday,
May 2nd and continues until ten minutes before the 8:00 pm curtain.
(If there’s any left, it will be available at intermission.)
What better idea for an evening out: show and champagne reception for
just $15!
Show Off Your Dog for the
Sylvia Award!
On Sunday, May 18, at 1:00 pm (just prior to the 2:00 pm curtain
for the matinee performance), all dog owners are invited
to display their favorite pooch for prizes in three categories:
Best Costume, Friskiest, Quietest. Ribbons will go to the
first three finishers in each category with the coveted Sylvia
Trophy going to the overall Most Appealing Dog. No entry
fee, just bring your pooch to the Oxford Community Center
by 12:45 pm on the day of the show. Showing will begin at 1:00 and
awards will be made at 1:30 to allow plenty of time for show patrons
to claim their seats. Dorothy Fenwick is in charge of the show! Judging
will be by “Sylvia” Director Fiona Foster and Oxford dog
enthusiast, Mignonne La Chapelle.
New Director Program Begins May 3rd. Registration Open.
Each of the one-act plays to be performed in TAP’s August show, “Acting
Out,” (see Page 3) will be directed by a newcomer to TAP, enrolled in the
New Director Program, beginning May 3. The opening half-day session will focus
on the technical aspects of theatre, led by Sally Woodall on stage management
and William (“Skipper”) Marquess on lights and sound. The second
session on May 10 is an all-day directing workshop, led by Pat Murphy Sheehy.
In weeks leading up to the production in August, additional mentoring sessions
will be led by leading lights of Eastern Shore community theatre, including Betty
Dorbin, Marcia Gilliam, Alex Handy, Ed Langrell, Anita and Erica Teece, Fiona
Foster, Susan Wasilewski and Tim Weigand. Persons interested in joining the New
Director Program should contact either Robyn Mendelsohn (robynrobyn@earthlink.net)
or Steve Clyburn (steve.clyburn@gt.com). |

Extra Sunday Matinee Proves Popular
Don’t forget that TAP has added an extra matinee this
season on the Sunday of the First Week of the run. For “Sylvia,” that
will be Sunday, May 4th at 2 pm. Many of our patrons commented on
how much they appreciated the extra convenience of one more chance
to see the play and still find it daylight at the curtain. Yes, the
final
Matinee (May 18th for “Sylvia”) is still the most crowded;
so why not give the first one a try?
